After the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) was passed in October 2006, many gaming companies were forced to either shut shop or shift their business focus elsewhere. 888 Holdings decided on the latter, and in this regard launched a range of new services and entered into agreements with various companies. As a result, the pre tax profits of the company were seen to rise by 35% in 2006 as compared to 2005.
