Israeli backgammon online gambling illegal

On 13th December 2006, the Israeli police warned the operator of an online backgammon site that it was violating the laws of gambling as the site was making people play with real money. Interlogic, the operator of Play65 was issued a warning to stop the organized gambling activity being conducted in Israel with immediate effect. The police also added that gambling charges would be levied if the site did not stop activities, but many say that gaming is still on at the site. Credit card companies were also informed not to collaborate with companies that organize online gambling. The warning was issued after the office of Attorney General Menachem Mazuz passed the ruling. The State Prosecutor's office stated that it viewed these operations of backgammon gambling as criminal.
