The other half of the million would be distributed to other finishers in the main and consolation events. The prize money offered is the highest till date and is calculated to be approximately five times higher than the amount given away at current world championship tournaments.

Television Coverage and Players

The tournament would be covered on television screens and distributed to major television networks too. It is planned that the tournament would be capped at 128 players, half of whom would have qualified through PartyGammon. The other half set of players can directly buy in into the tournament.

Tournament Location

The Atlantis resort on Paradise Island is the chosen venue, the same place where World Championships of Backgammon took place in the late 1970s. The tournament would begin on January 21, 2007 and the finals would be held on January 25, 2007. Besides matches, the tournament would also feature an exhibition match between two former champions and a lecture on game strategy by a top player.
