New Backgammon Server Launched by PartyGaming Plc. called PartyGammon.com

PartyGaming Plc., the organization that brought forth the popular package of PartyPoker, is now launching its backgammon gambling site. Called PartyGammon, this online package is said to be their next evolutionary step to become a global name in the gaming industry. The new site, PartyGammon.com, has (like most sites) both real money and play money games. It is hardly surprising that a recognized brand name in poker would attempt to leverage that name in other areas of online gambling such as backgammon. Currently, similar to the 65.com launch,  PartyGaming backgammon site is still in BETA mode.

"The organization that started backgammon gambling" is probably a bunch of Mesopotamians who played for a goblet of wine. "The organization that started online backgammon gambling" was, to my knowledge, a bunch of guys on The Sierra Network in 1993, or maybe some people who started gambling on FIBS when it opened.

Unfortunately (from my perspective), PartyGammon has also duplicated the rake structure used by GammonEmpire and play 65, which provides increased rakes for games between players of different ratings for example, a high ranked player and a low ranked player. I would find this a very desirable thing if the additional rakes were remitted to the lower-rated player. It would in effect create a handicapped game, similar to the way many players play live. Unfortunately, this rake schedule effectively confiscates money from both players and reduces the amount of action available, although this is the fee backgammon gambling sites charge when you play backgammon online.

PartyGaming is the organization that brought PartyPoker and then took its company public, to make it the single largest IPO to debut in the London Stock Exchange in the year 2005.
