More backgammon action comes to London with once a month backgammon tournaments that are held regularly by the Croydon Backgammon Club. These matches for money usually take place on the first Sunday of each month. Besides the regular matches, players often meet up every Sunday between 8-9 PM for a casual backgammon game. Newcomers interested in participating can contact Danny for more information. The usual venue is the TBC, and once it closes, players usually go to The Black Sheep Bar, a loud night club. As is obvious, players at the club have a lot of fun while playing the game of backgammon they love. Free entry is available and play often goes on till 1.30 A.M. The format of the game depends upon the number of people in attendance and varies to suit the group. However it is usually either knockout backgammon or round robin. A nominal amount of £5 to 10 is charged per player as entry fee and the amount is returned in full as prizes. Players from all levels of expertise are welcome to either learn the game or improve their skills at it.

The Double Five Backgammon Club is the right place to be for backgammon enthusiasts. With over 50-100 members, the club offers the ideal platform for all those who are seeking to test their backgammon skill level and are working towards improving their game. Since its inception in January 1987, the club is offering good backgammon money plays and great fun filled evenings to all its participants. Members of the club meet on Thursdays at 7 pm and on Sundays at 5 pm for a good game of backgammon. Thursday evenings are chosen for backgammon tourneys with entry fee of £30. On Sundays the stakes are higher and the fun is bigger at entry fee of £100. The action is mainly dominated by backgammon chouettes and some head-up play. If you are in London and are looking for some good backgammon action, then the Fox Reformed Backgammon Club offers weekly tournaments just for you. The club has been around for a decade now and its members and other interested backgammon players meet up every Monday night at the venue. This tournament is extremely popular and interested players must book in advance. Players who are interested in more backgammon tourneys and matches can meet up on other weekdays also, with mutual consent. The pattern of backgammon gaming often comprises of 16-player knockout tournaments. The club encourages backgammon gambling for money and charges £20 for the weekly tournament . This amount however includes buffet. The remaining amount goes towards the prize money which is offered for main and consolation prizes. Besides the weekly backgammon tournaments, annual games are also held which are open to all. Players from all levels, including beginners, intermediate and expert players are welcome to participate. While there is no club per se, regular players who enjoy this friendly format of backgammon meet up once a month on the 1st Wednesday at Ryan’s bar in London.
