If you are in the neighborhood then the Newcastle Backgammon Club is another great place to play backgammon. Members of the club meet up on every alternate Friday for a friendly yet competitive game of backgammon.The first two nights are usually dedicated to playing social backgammon where new players and old hands get a chance to feel the game. Tournaments are conducted on the next two gaming nights. The club was established way back in 1983 by Paul Mitchell and the first Newcastle Open Backgammon Tournament was held at Newcastle Universities Staff House in 1984. The regular and most popular feature of the club is its annual Open backgammon tournament where small entry fee is charged. Moreover the entire amount that is charged as fees is returned as prize money. Also the club follows round robin format over knockouts when the Top 8 backgammon players are shortlisted. The club also regularly conducts junior competitions, junior championships and junior backgammon tournaments for the under 18 age group. Beginners and new comers are welcome to the club and are encouraged to learn the game. The club encourages an impetus on Club Championship rather than money play.

The Sydney Backgammon Club is a wonderful backgammon joint for players from all levels of expertise. Members of the club meet once a week on Tuesday for a competitive game of backgammon in a sociable atmosphere. The backgammon tournaments begin at 7:15pm for beginners and 7:30pm for the main tournament. These weekly backgammon tournaments are usually seven-point matches with 16 and 8 player fields. An entry fee of $30 is charged per participant and is returned in full in the form of prize money. The club operates on a not for profit basis and has been established mainly to promote the game of backgammon. Besides providing backgammon for money the hotel also offers good food and great accomodation. Those interested in participating in the matches can contact the event organizer or reach the venue on the chosen date and time. Members of the backgammon club can come to play every night when a nominal table fee of $3 is charged per night per member for regular members only. Based on points earned in each of the matches, a half yearly champions trophy is awarded after six months. Beginners to backgammon are welcome and can also benefit from informal lessons and backgammon strategies for improving their game. Moreover the club also provides backgammon boards and dice to all players. All can participate in the club tournament and games, subject to the regulations that govern entry into the hotel's licensed premises.

Established in June 1978, the Mill Hill Backgammon Club is one of the oldest clubs in Australia. Members of the club meet once a week on Tuesday at the Mill Hill hotel situated in Bondi junction. The club promotes backgammon for money and thrill and charges an entry fee of $20 per game of backgammon. These games begin sharp at 7:30 pm and follow a straight knockout format. Buybacks are allowed. Annually once or twice the club also conducts an open event which comprise of the main and intermediate divisions. Entry fee for these events stands at $50 and $20 respectively. The entire amount charged as entry fee is returned to participants in the form of prizes. The backgammon joint offers a special weekly door prize to its backgammon entrants also. Besides it has a special gaming room that is a casino lovers paradise asit comes complete with pool tables adn slot machines. Beginners are welcome to the club and can benefit from free backgammon lessons given by the more experienced players. Besides backgammon, a friendly game of Chouettes is a regular feature too.
