Backgammon Game Champs

Challenge The Champs is a special user-run event where the top players on the Zone take on all challengers. We think this is pretty special. It's no secret that the top players are a little difficult to get a match with, but also, the Zone is very hierarchical and rigid. This is something done by the players, for the players, with no support - and, we hope, minimal interference from the Zone. The sole purpose of this event is to provide everyone with a fun and educational experience. Everyone on the Zone is welcome to play (except those with a record of cheating), but please come with a fun spirit in mind. Kibitzers are welcome at all times, but rude or unpleasant comments or behavior of any kind, whether from spectators or players, are not.

The format is that players come in and are assigned a champ to play a 3-point match against. Each challenger, time permitting, can have up to three matches. We have awarded prizes or other recognition to anyone winning all three matches. In all the times we have run this event, only one player has pulled off this hat trick. Come and try to be the next.

Our last event was in March of 2001, but we hope to do it again. We have also had guest stars in the past such Mike Corbett, Paul Weaver, and world champion Lee Genud.
